I was born in Raiganj - a small town in northern West Bengal. But I have lived in Kolkata from the time I was six months old. I attended Kendriya Vidyalaya No-2 Salt Lake from standard 1 till 12 and graduated from school on 2015. I stood first in my school. I am now a first year graduate student of Astronomy at University of California, Santa Cruz. I did my bachelors and masters degree in Physics from Presidency University, Kolkata. I work broadly on exoplanetary atmospheres. My main interests include modeling exoplanet atmospheres and simulating their reflection and thermal spectrum for running and future astronomical observatories. I have also worked on modelling of flows and emissions around black-holes and variable stars in the Andromeda galaxy.
I love music. I can play a variety of Indian percussion like Tabla, Pakhwaj, Dholak, Naal and Bhangra dhol. I have accompanied many singers and groups with these instruments. I love Indian instrumental classical music. Sitar and Sharod recitals are my favorite. I love acting in plays. I have acted in several plays with various kinds of roles. I am completely detached from acting now with all the busy academic schedules but I am up for it anytime I will get a chance.
I got selected in IISc for integrated Phd through JAM. I am also pre-selected for PhD at IUCAA, Pune through INAT. I have a perfect score of 990 at Physics GRE, 2018. I am a S.N. Bose Scholar and visited UCSC for the summer of 2019. I have got a gold (plated maybe I don’t know!) medal for my B.Sc results.
I'm Sagnick Mukherjee I work on exoplanetary atmospheres.
